Systemax hit London for a giant game of Monopoly!

Programme objectives

  • To arrange a teambuilding day based in London for their HP Print division as a mixture of reward and networking
  • To qualify for a place on the event, sales representatives were measured on driving sales and achieving set targets
  • To create a fun and unique experience

The solution

The Monopoly Challenge was the ideal event as it included a route devised around London that would be interesting, fun and with relatively low travel times. The representatives would be divided into teams and the challenge consisted of each group having instructions to visit eight set locations, based from the Monopoly Board obviously, and perform key tasks at each destination.

The event would combine the need for teamwork and communication, encourage networking by way of working with peers, in addition to providing long lasting memories from a unique experience.

Based on previous knowledge that CR had organised this event for another client, Systemax were confident the itinerary on the Monopoly Challenge would be memorable with high impact.

Systemax hit London for a giant game of Monopoly!

What we did

The day kicked off with a briefing from our Event Manager and included a champagne breakfast at the NH Kensington Hotel where the group would be spending the evening. Guests were allocated into teams of three and issued with their Monopoly Challenge packs, which gave them all of the information they needed for the day.

Our in-house graphic designers produced the branded materials which included:

  • Monopoly Challenge Game Card – showing all places to visit around London
  • Map of London (key to completing the challenge)
  • Mission list of tasks to complete en-route – points were awarded for each mission which would be collated at the end of the day to deem the winning team

The challenge consisted of each team having instructions to visit eight iconic locations positioned on the Monopoly Board, covering Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square to Northumberland Avenue and Regent Street to the infamous (and most expensive on the board) Mayfair. Locations consisted of a number of different venues including quirky restaurants, traditional English pubs and even a trip to the Ice Bar for a quick drink at -5°C!

Following the briefing, teams disbursed in branded London Cabs and set out on their missions. The group were under strict instructions to, at least try to stay out of jail at all costs and at each location, stop to find the answer to the relevant mission (and for a well-earned drink). Bonus points were also available for those that went the extra mile and found out more information than the mission requested. Lunch was served at a quirky little pub in Leicester Square and the group carried on until early afternoon.

After a quick freshen up, the evening started with a private BBQ dinner at the stylish Kensington Roof Gardens with live entertainment. During dinner, the winning teams were presented with their awards with a few booby prizes thrown in for good measure.

The evening ended with guests dancing the night away in their very own private VIP area at Babylon.

Our CR team took the stress and strain away from the client in managing such an event both prior to and onsite, ensuring all guests were treated to a memorable event with a good mix of teambuilding, motivation and the feeling of being rewarded.

“Thank you CR for a great weekend. The whole experience was very different to what I have done before at similar events and it was apparent that lots of planning and thought had gone into putting everything together. I and I know others did too, had a fantastic time!”
