Ingram Micro’s Adrenalin Pumping Weekend in Oxford

Programme objectives

  • To run a three-month incentive to drive e-learning activity to support the sales of Windows devices with Microsoft attach
  • To include an end of programme experience, based centrally in the UK where the top achievers could be rewarded for their performance
  • To communicate thoroughly within the participating partners

The solution

Within this programme, we proposed three different elements that our team could implement for the incentive.

To launch the incentive we would hold a SPIF day at the Ingram Micro Offices, communicating what the sales team needed to do to participate in the incentive, plus targets that needed to achieved and details of the prize.

To keep the incentive fresh in people’s minds we would also provide a momentum kit box mid-way through the period where sales made equated to an entry into a prize draw to win weekly voucher prizes.

The overall prize would include the top eight performers winning a place on the Race & Relax Day in Oxford.

What we did

The incentive trip was due to take place in January, so we needed a reward activity that would be suitable for a cold, wintry day, where the weather would not affect the experience. A Kielder Day was the ideal solution.

The weather did actually try to hamper the event as snow was falling all the way between Milton Keynes and Oxford on the coach journey from the Ingram Micro Offices to the London Rally School located just outside of Oxford. Luckily the sub-zero temperatures did not halt proceedings or dampen any of the participants moods!

On arrival, the group were treated to a bacon sandwich and a hot drink in the beautiful Stratton Court Barn before heading out the one of the many fields for the competitive element of the day – target shooting.

After a brief cuppa to de-frost the group went back out up to the woods for some quad biking. After a briefing on technique and safety, the group went around a practice course that contains straights and slaloms and mounds. They then the moved onto a bigger track where they were scored.

After lunch, each individual was taught the basic skills of loose surface rally driving in a Escort RS2000l learning how to do handbrake turns, power slides, Scandinavian flicks and also how to control a car in under-steer and over-steer. Individuals were timed over the rally stage in both the Escort RS2000 and a Suburu Impreza with the winner receiving a small trophy.

After the days exhilarating activities, we transferred the group to the Malmaison Hotel in Oxford. The group had ample time glam themselves up before going on to have a delicious meal at The Red Lion restaurant located in the centre of Oxford. It was then onto a few trendy bars before dancing the night away at Lava Ignite.

After well-earned night’s sleep and a delicious breakfast at the hotel, it was time to get back onto the coach for the return journey to the Ingram Micro Offices.
