“A truly unforgettable experience” – EMEA ski incentive trip

The solution

Our events team researched a variety of European destinations and activities, that could be the prize for an end of quarter engagement initiative for 24 of Dell’s EMEA sales team.

The trip location needed to be central Europe, easily accessible from many countries and cost effective. As the four-day trip was taking place in February, skiing was the most appropriate winter based activity and made a highly desirable reward.

Dell Ski Trip

What we did

Courmayeur in Italy was selected as it had short transfer times from Geneva, it was a cost-effective location as it was not as popular as other European destinations, but still had a charming town centre and sophisticated resort. The group would be able to enjoy fantastic ski facilities as Courmayeur has a total of 100km of runs, including the famous World Cup downhill run as well as the international run. As the location was not as lively, compared with other famous ski resorts, it provided the perfect balance of enjoying the ski time, as well as concentration for the educational sessions.

We would organise all elements of the trip including flights, transfers, accommodation, meals, activities, ski equipment hire, ski passes and ski lessons. We would take on all the administration duties on behalf of the client, liaising with delegates to create an amazing reward experience for them.

Before the trip, our Event Managers liaised with all the delegates to organise flights and transfers, understand their level of ski capabilities and pre-book all their ski equipment hire requirements. The guests were sent a welcome pack, highlighting the four-day itinerary so they were fully in the loop as to what their trip included.

As the guests were travelling from across Europe, we coordinated them on flights that landed at a similar time so we could organise appropriate shuttle transfers to the hotel. One of our Event Managers met the guests at Geneva Airport with branded signage and organised them onto their transportation.
The guests were met in Courmayeur by another Event Manager who checked them in to the 4* Mont Blanc Hotel, an elegant hotel and spa with a cosy feature fireplace and relaxing bar and restaurant.
An Event Manager took the group to the ski hire shop for their personalised ski or snowboarding equipment fitting. Their ski passes were issued and the outline agenda for the next several day’s activities was outlined.
The evening was a chilled dinner and drinks at the hotel, ready to hit the slopes early the next day.

Friday and Saturday
Guests kicked off the day with breakfast, followed by a welcome meeting from the client and some training on the latest Dell solutions, new product development and future strategy, within a private room at the hotel that we had hired out. This was an opportunity to network with their peers, share ideas, build knowledge and to strengthen brand relationships and loyalty.
The group were then met by their ski instructors, divided up according to their ability, and escorted to the slopes. The hotel was a handy 500metres from the cable car. Guests enjoyed a three-hour lesson, finishing in time for lunch at one of the mountains many restaurants.
The afternoon was spent enjoying free time so guests could continue to ski, visit the shops in the charming village or head back to the hotel for a relaxing time in the spa.
The group met at one of the lively Après ski bars on the slopes, to socialise, soak up the atmosphere and hear about each other’s ski stories.
With the day concluding with dinner at a local restaurant and drinks at one of the busy village bars, to toast to a successful days skiing.

Before heading home, the group spent time exploring the enchanting Italian village taking in a coffee at a quaint café or seeing what delights they could pick up from the designer shops. The group enjoyed a final lunch up the mountains set in the backdrop of the idyllic scenery of the Aosta Valley and Mont Blanc, reminiscing about their ski adventures. Guests were then transferred to the airport for their flight home and back to reality where they could feel rewarded and appreciated, along with implementing all the learnings and new knowledge gained from the previous few days.
