From sporting events to those with a cultural focus, there’s plenty to motivate your staff in 2018. We look at the best UK summer events to visit with your staff this year.
There are plenty of UK sporting events to choose from this summer to suit your team and their interests, from famous tennis tournaments and regattas to cricket matches, football games and the world’s best golf. You could treat them to Centre Court seats at Wimbledon in July, and the chance to see top-ranking tennis stars battle it out. Or you could take your motor racing fanatics to Silverstone to watch some high-speed action at the world famous British Grand Prix. Alternatively, take your team to a screening of an exciting match during the world’s biggest football tournament, which needs no introduction.
For a more sophisticated and luxurious experience, you could treat your team to a box at one of the best-known rowing events, Henley Royal Regatta. They could sit in the sun and sip champagne in style, cheering on the champion rowers as they race along the Thames. Or your best performers could get dressed up in their finest attire to experience some horse racing at Royal Ascot. You could even treat them to an evening concert at the event, which showcase everything from top DJs to reinvented brass bands.
Alternatively, you could go for a sporting event with a more relaxed and sedate pace. Golfing fanatics could enjoy the Open Championships in July, this year held in the town of Carnoustie, Scotland. Or you could take your cricket lovers to enjoy a game in the international test match series at a landmark venue, such as the oval in London.

For music and festival lovers in your company team, young and old, there’s plenty on offer through the summer season. From Manchester’s Parklife to the UK’s most famous music festival, Glastonbury, in Somerset, there’s a wide range of world-leading talent to enjoy in June. For a mixture of music, art and creativity, there’s Latitude in Suffolk, which is held in July. Or if your staff prefer their beats harder and faster, there’s the Creamfields dance festival, making its annual mark in the Cheshire countryside in August.
To enjoy a classic rock event that’s been going longer than the rest, you could take your staff to the Reading festival in August – the world’s oldest popular music festival. Or for something new, there’s the RiZE festival, also taking place in August, but for the first time, at Chelmsford’s Hylands Park. Elsewhere in London, is Hyde Park’s annual British Summer Time festival. This year it brings stars from right across the musical spectrum, including pop talent Bruno Mars and well-known singer Michael Bublé.
Alternatively, you could take your staff to experience the concert of a pop star or band that’s touring through the summer. From rock legends The Rolling Stones, or Queen, with the talented Adam Lambert taking lead vocals, to pop icons Justin Timberlake and Kylie Minogue, there’s plenty to choose from – each making an unforgettable night out.
If you’re looking to treat and inspire your staff with a more cultural experience, what could be better than a trip to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. Described as the world’s largest arts festival and the greatest platform for creative freedom, this annual event has something for everyone, from comedy to cabaret, theatre to opera and dance.
Also in Scotland’s beautiful capital, there’s the Edinburgh International Film Festival, ideal for the movie fanatics in your team. Running from mid-June to the start of July, this is the world’s longest continually running film festival, showcasing premieres of the latest acclaimed, inspiring and innovative films.
Alternatively, if you feel your team are in need a night of comedy and laughter, you could treat them to the show of a leading comedian, who’s touring this summer. You could take them to see Michael McIntyre, once reportedly the world’s highest grossing comedian, or popular funny lady, Sarah Millican. There’s also Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle, if you fancy treating your team to a bit of controversial fun.
