Incentive Travel Trends 2020

Posted by Jo Kelly

There has been a 22% overall increase in corporate spending on employee travel incentives in 2019 compared to the previous year. This shows that enterprise businesses are seeing the varying benefits incentive travel can bring to an organisation and continuing to offer a trip as a motivational reward.

As sustainability becomes a prevalent issue across society and 54% of travellers say they are inspired to travel more sustainably – with 60% saying they’re inspired by the natural sights – we expect to see more businesses choosing places ranked highly on the Global Destination Sustainability Index as a location for their next incentive trip. Along with including an element of ‘human-powered’ activities or nature tourism. Offering eco trips with human-animal interactions are not just as leisure or bonding time but can be used as a tool to improve the physical and mental health of the workforce.

This year sees many sporting events being celebrated across the world, including Formula 1, European Football Championship and Summer Olympics, to name a few. Showcasing performance excellence from elite superstars, a link to celebrating your incentive winners.

To support incentive programmes running throughout the year, we expect to see businesses looking to chase the winter sun, with long-haul trips to warmer destinations.

With these trends in mind, we’ve compiled our Top 10 Incentive Travel Guide, to include destinations that support these factors and provide a wide choice for all businesses, meeting all their requirements:
