We come out on top with C&IT best conference award

We’ve triumphed once again after winning best international conference for NetApp Insight at this year’s C&IT Awards – our fifth win for the huge European event.


Our dedicated team won the International Conference of the Year award for our event, NetApp Insight 2016. It’s our second C&IT award and our fifth for our work on the technical conference, which we’ve been involved in organising since it started in 2008.

C&IT (Conference and Incentive Travel), is the UK’s leading brand for the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions industry. The C&IT awards, which were held in London in late September, are described as the definitive awards for UK B2B events. We first won at the awards for our client, Microsoft, for Cost Effective Use of a Budget.

Creating Europe’s largest data storage conference

NetApp Insight is recognised as the largest data storage conference in Europe. The 2016 event took place in Berlin in November last year and attracted over 3,600 people from across 62 countries. This is a 5% attendance increase, year-on-year, since we first started work on the event back in 2008.

Dan said: “This event has been a huge part of our company’s success over the past nine years. We are extremely proud of what our team have achieved, taking it from its first ever technical event in Prague in 2008 for 725 people, to the huge, all-encompassing, technical, partner and customer event it is today.”

Managing the event at a global level

Our team were involved in planning the conference over a 12-month period. This consisted of 12 people who managed global and delegate registration, expo, sponsorship and branding, as well as budget management, production and logistics.

Jo Kelly, our Events Operations Director, led the team. She said the main challenges included differentiating the event from previous years, while using the same venue – 2016 was the third year in a row that the event took place at Messe Berlin. Jo’s team also had to oversee the global program management for the NetApp Insight US event, which took place in Las Vegas just before the Berlin conference.

“2016 was the first year we had included a fully global service within our remit, she said. “It resulted in us managing the registration system and programme management on a global level.”

Explaining what the most important elements are to put together an award-winning conference today, Jo said teamwork and vision are key.

“Collaboration, having a trusted relationship with your client and having a trusted, effective team is integral to the success,” she said. “It’s also about having the right vision, setting the right objectives, and understanding what your audience needs.”
