An exhibition is a fantastic way to create a platform to showcase aspects of your business or provide a way to educate delegates at a conference or corporate events.

Choosing to have an exhibition stand at an event is step one in terms of putting your exhibition together, but what else should you keep in mind to maximise the potential of your exhibition?

You might be invited to exhibit at a major corporate event in your sector, where you and your competitors might have a presence.

In these situations, you need to outshine your competition. One way to do that is by focussing your exhibition around a specific theme.

This might be based on the overall topic for the event, such as what the keynote speeches at a conference relate to. Or, you might use your exhibition to highlight a key point of your business or showcase its ethos.

A theme can really help you to keep your exhibition on track. You might be tempted to use your stand to tell visitors everything about your business, but this can be an information overload. Instead, focus on something specific and provide ways to get in touch for more information.

What to showcase

Once you have a theme you can start deciding on what you want to showcase. This can be invaluable in working out not just what you want to show off to visitors on your exhibition stand, but also how.

Once you’ve decided on your theme and content, you can begin to pull together the various assets you need to put on a memorable exhibition. There are a number of things to be mindful of:

  • How many staff you need
  • How big your exhibition stand needs to be to accommodate everything
  • What the styling of the stand will look like – how will you be found in an exhibition hall?
  • How you going to be memorable to delegates and standout – such as handing out branded giveaways, collateral, or providing entertainment around the stand

There’s a lot to keep in mind when putting together an exhibition, not only in terms of creating and organising the content for your exhibition stand, but also deciding on the design and size of your exhibition stand.

Putting all of these moving parts together takes time. This is why it is important to plan ahead when it comes to your exhibitions, giving you the opportunity to amend or accommodate potential delays while still allowing you the time to get everything in place, ready for when your stand starts to receive visitors.
